Asia Cup 2018: IND v BAN - India steamrolls Bangladesh by 7 wickets, Rohit makes 83*

India will play Pakistan in their next match of Super Fours stage.

Ravindra Jadeja picked 4/29 on his comeback into Indian team after a year | GettyBangladesh and Indian team met in the super four stage of ongoing Asia Cup 2018 in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India came into the super four stages unbeaten, while Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka and lost to Afghanistan, a day before.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma got lucky with the coin and chose to field first. India chose to bring in Ravindra Jadeja for his first ODI match in more than a year. Bangladesh bought back Mushfiqur and Mustafizur in the playing XI.

Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah gave early jolts to Bangladesh as they sent back both openers for 7 runs each.

Then Jadeja marked his comeback with a brilliant haul of 4/29 and his wickets included Shakib (17), Mushfiqur (21), Mithun (9) and Mosaddek (12). These were all big names and all got a start, but their innings was cut short by the left-arm spinner.

Bhuvneshwar then removed Mahmudullah for 25 runs. While Mortaza (26) and Mehidy Hasan (42 in 50 balls) looked to take Bangladesh towards 200; Bhuvneshwar (3/32) and Bumrah (3/37) then cleaned up the tail to limit Bangladesh innings to 173.

The openers Rohit and Dhawan took their time and added 61 runs in 14 overs before Shakib got Dhawan out LBW for 40 off 47 balls. Rayudu hung around for 28-ball 13 and was dismissed by Rubel, caught by Mushfiqur.

MS Dhoni was promoted to no.4 and he showed why there are demands for him to be moved up to that spot. However, the innings of the match came from Rohit Sharma who scored an unbeaten 83 off 104 balls with 3 sixes and 5 fours.

He got ample support from MS Dhoni who made 33 off 36 balls. The duo added 64 runs for the 3rd wicket.

India next plays Pakistan in the next match on Sunday, September 23, while Bangladesh plays Afghanistan on the same day.
