Dhawan, Rohit and Kohli form a scary top three for any limited overs teamIndia and West Indies will play a series of five ODI matches, followed by a series of three T20I matches. The first ODI will be played in at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday (October 21).

The BCCI selectors have announced the squad for the first two ODI matches and saw Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar being rested after their participation in the Asia Cup 2018 and it also marked the return of Virat Kohli to the limited overs squad.

Keeping the latest trend of Indian cricket to name the 12-man squad a day before the ODI; Team COC presents to you predicted India playing XI for the first ODI against the West Indies.

Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni might form the crux of Indian middle orderShikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have been named in the squad for the first two ODIs and are expected to feature in the first match as well. Virat Kohli is poised to return to the no.3 spot after a well-earned break after England series. The battle for the no.4 spot is between Ambati Rayudu and Manish Pandey and given Rayudu’s success in Asia Cup, he might get the preference at that spot.

This series might be highly important for MS Dhoni, who is struggling with the bat in recent ODI series against England and in the Asia Cup. This Windies series will also give India a chance to experiment with the finishers as Hardik Pandya has seemingly not recovered from his back injury and the most likely inclusion at no.6 is Rishabh Pant, who scored twin scores of 92 in the two Tests against the Windies recently and has the ability to clear the ropes with ease.

Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Shami might lead the pace attack | Getty/APGiven the matches are being played in India, the spin twins Chahal and Kuldeep are most likely to play a big role in the series and they might be supported by Ravindra Jadeja, who resurrected his limited overs career with some impactful showing in the Asia Cup 2018.

As for the quick bowling contingent, two veterans in Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Shami are most likely to share the new ball in absence of Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah and will have a chance to stake a claim for the 2019 World Cup berth.
