Glenn Maxwell found himself in a grand controversy after a video surfaced of him refusing to shake hands with Pakistani captain Sarfraz Ahmed, after Pakistan defeated Australia in the finals of the tri-series in Zimbabwe.

After the match was won by Pakistan, Sarfraz ran onto the field for traditional handshakes and Maxwell gave him no response as Sarfraz extended his hand. Television footage of the incident clearly shows Maxwell ignoring the Pakistan captain and moving past to shake hands with the umpires.

However, with Maxwell getting criticized for his actions, he has come out on Twitter and clarified his actions on refusing handshake with Pakistan captain. Maxwell, in his statement, said that it was an oversight on his part, rather than unsportsmanlike conduct from him.

Australia had put up a target of 184 for Pakistan to chase. Despite losing early wickets, Fakhar Zaman’s brilliant 91 took Pakistan to the win.
