Pakistan registered a thrilling 6-wicket victory over Australia to lift the T20I tri-series trophy at Harare Sports Club, Harare on Sunday (July 8). It was Pakistan’s 9th consecutive T20I series victory under the leadership of Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Following the match, skipper Sarfaraz rushed onto the ground to perform the traditional handshakes with the opposition players. However, when he outstretched his hand towards Glenn Maxwell for a shake, he got no response.
Television footage of the incident clearly shows Maxwell ignoring the Pakistan captain and moving past to shake hands with the umpires.
Here’s the video:
Coming to the match, Australia posted a highly competitive total of 183/8 in their stipulated 20 overs, courtesy D’Arcy Short’s 53-ball 76 and skipper Aaron Finch’s 27-ball 47. Mohammad Amir was the stand-out bowler for Pakistan, claiming 3 for 33 in his 4 overs.
In reply, Pakistan rode on Fakhar Zaman’s brutal 91 off 46 balls (12 fours and 3 sixes) to chase down the target with 4 balls to spare. Shoaib Malik also played a handy knock of 43* in 37 balls.
