Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kings XI Punjab after their heroic run in 2014 have struggled in last couple of seasons. They were at the bottom position in both 2015 and 2016 leg of cricket's most popular T20 tournament. As per reports, hoping to swing their fortunes in 2017 leg, KXIP management have decided to let go of their head coach Sanjay Bangar on Friday. Sanjay has has been associated with the Team since 2014.
After Sanjay Bangar's departure, management is hoping to hire Virender Sehwag as their head coach. Virender Sehwag joined the team with Sanjay Bangar in 2014, after he was let off by Delhi daredevils. Sehwag played couple of seasons for KXIP as an opener, later he joined coaching staff and incidentally is associated with Team as a mentor.
According to the reports the 38-year-old is likely to be KXIP's next head coach.
However, Kings XI have released former Australian tear apart Mitchell Johnson, all-rounder Rishi Dhawan and South African pacer Kyle Abbott earlier this week while they have chosen to stick with Glenn Maxwell and David Miller - who had a forgettable last season.
