India's injury season seems to be a never ending affair. According to the report, left arm spinner and a dynamic batsman in middle order, Akshar Patel has been ruled out from the limited overs series against England, which begins in Pune from January 15, due to a thumb injury.
Akshar Patel, who came in as a backup option in 5th Test against England, landed on his thumb while trying to catch Liam Dawson off R Ashwin in Chennai. Akshar Patel, who plays for Gujarat in domestic cricket, missed Gujarat's Ranji Trophy quarter-final against Orissa, as he has to visit Mumbai-based orthopaedic surgeon Sudhir Warrier for further consultation.
According to the sources, Patel might have to undergo surgery. Apart from bad news about Akshar Patel, Jayant Yadav is also not been able to recover on time from the hamstring injury which forced him to miss Chennai Test.
