The Indian all-rounder Parvez Rasool is the first cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to be selected in the national team, for the Zimbabwe tour under the captaincy of Virat Kohli in 2013. However, he did not maintain his place into the team for a long time but once again he hopes he will get a chance to play for the Indian team.
He also played against Bangladesh at Dhaka in 2014. After showing a fantastic performance in the 2016-17 season of the Ranji Trophy, where Parvez has scored 629 runs and picked up 38 wickets, he is hoping that his time will come again soon.
The right-hander stands for the India Blue in the first ever pink-ball Duleep Trophy contests. He stated, “I am in the good rhythm and also hundred percent fit to make a comeback. After the last season, I had worked on a few aspects of my bowling and it held me in good stead. I also benefited from NCA’s fitness camp under Anil Kumble,”
Indian selectors are to be expected to announce the ODI squad for the England in the first week of January. In the spin department, R. Ashwin, Jayant Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja are under a fitness cloud, Rasool could return in the reckoning.
Rasool said, “In the Ranji, except for a game in Baroda we played almost all the matches on flat tracks. There was no turn or help from the pitch. Taking 38 wickets has boosted my confidence. It’s only natural to expect a long rope to showcase my ability.”
