Mumbai Indians takes a breath of relief after getting a good news from their Caribbean lads Kieron Pollard and Lendl Simmons as both of them will arrive for IPL just before the opening encounter in Pune on April 6 against RPS.
MI's official spokesperson said, “Pollard and Simmons will reach Mumbai on April 4 and join the team in Pune on April 5 for pre-match training.”
These two had played a key role in their winning campaign in 2015, but Simmons didn’t back this with a good year as he got injured in last season just after featuring in the solitary match for MI. On the other hand, Pollard is their prime all-rounder who has played only for MI in his entire IPL career.
Both players are currently on the national duty as selectors called them for four-match T20I series against Pakistan in the Caribbean.
However, Mumbai Indians will miss spearhead Lasith Malinga and Lankan all-rounder Asela Gunaratne in their first league match. “We have no word yet actually from the Sri Lanka board but most likely they will finish the Bangladesh series - with the last match scheduled on 6th April - and join the team on the 7th in Mumbai,” team spoke person revealed.
Meanwhile, the best possible news for them came when Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya declared fit by BCCI.
