Almost all the IPL teams are facing the possibility of missing some big names from their teams due to injury or burnout. Most of Team India players took part in the grueling 13 Test and almost as many ODIs home season and already we have seen the consequence of that.
RCB have lost Virat Kohli and KL Rahul to injuries; while KKR and Gujarat Lions will miss Umesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja respectively for first half of the season. However in some good news, Mumbai Indians were fortunate enough, as two of their biggest stars, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya were cleared to play in the IPL 2017.
Rohit Sharma was out of the game since the last ODI against New Zealand in November 2016. He had surgery on his thigh injury sustained during the New Zealand series. Hardik Pandya had been struggling with a shoulder problem and underwent medical consultation. However, Rohit has completely recovered from the surgery and underwent a rehabilitation program at the NCA recently.
Pandya too has sorted out his shoulder problem and will be available to play for Mumbai for the full season. Mumbai Indians will begin their IPL 2017 campaign against Rising Pune Supergiants on April 6 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
