KL Rahul confirmed that he will be missing this season of IPL due to the shoulder injury he sustained during the 4 Test series against Australia. Rahul sustained the injury to his shoulder and played throughout the series, despite the injury restricting his movements. Rahul will now travel to London to have surgery performed on his shoulder to be fit for upcoming away season.
Royal Challengers Bangalore have been scouting for local talent to replace Rahul, and the topmost name on the list is of Tamil Nadu’s wicketkeeper batsman N. Jagadeesan. Jagadeesan impressed many people during the Tamil Nadu Premier League and he confirmed that he received a call from RCB management for trials.
“I got a call from RCB to give a trial on April 2nd, but I have no idea on how many players will take part in the trial. It would be great if I could make it to the squad, but at the moment, I have no expectations going into the trials,” said the Tamil Nadu batsman.
Since Rahul also donned the wicket keeping gloves for RCB, Jagadeesan will be the perfect foil for Rahul as he is an accomplished wicketkeeper and a hard hitting batsman. He piled up 190 runs at strike rate of 95.33 in the recently concluded Deodhar Trophy, in which he played as a batsman.
He ended up as the leading run scorer and Player of the tournament in TNPL and the 21 year old will now appear for a trial on April 2 for RCB and hopefully replace Rahul in the team.
