Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar praised the Australia skipper Steven Smith for his behavior in the recently concluded Test series against India, where he apologized for his all mistakes after the conclusion of series.
Smith was instrumental with the bat throughout this series as he notched up 499 runs including three tons. Beside of it, he was in the headlines for his wrong doings as in Bengaluru Test he asked for clue over his LBW dismissal.
Apart from it, he had several verbal wars with his Indian counterpart Virat Kohli and it increased the heat in the series.
Smith was very quick to respond Kohli’s allegation of cheating and marked it as a ‘Brain fade’. During Dharamshala Test, he mentioned that emotions got better of him and he wants to apologize for his doing.
Sunil Gavaskar praised him while talking to NDTV, “Steve Smith is a big man to admit that he has made a mistake. My respect for him has gone even higher for admitting that he was wrong.”
This series was most exciting series in the recent times and experts rated this as the best after Ashes 2005. India came from behind and registered a 2-1 win to regain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
