Kolkata Knight Riders will be looking for a third IPL win in the upcoming season of IPL and for that purposes, they required all of their Knights in top shape. However, it was reported earlier, that KKR strike bowler Umesh Yadav may miss 2-3 weeks of IPL at the start in order to rest himself.
Yadav was instrumental in India winning 4 back to back series in India recently as he bowled nonstop at top speed to support the spinners. BCCI had reportedly given the players who played the whole home Test season some rest during the IPL, before the Champions Trophy started in June, 2017. Players like R Ashwin, M Vijay and KL Rahul are already missing the whole IPL due to various injuries and Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja are sure to miss the initial weeks of the tournament.
However, if fresh reports are to be believed, Umesh Yadav might play KKR’s first home game at Eden Gardens on April 13th. KKR CEO Venky Mysore had tweeted, "Hearty congrats @y_umesh. Exceptional perf 4 #TeamIndia. Enjoy the well deserved break. C u in Kol fresh & recharged on April 10! @KKRiders."
Umesh Yadav played majority of Tests in India’s home season and picked 17 wickets in 4 Tests against Australia, a series that India won 2-1, after losing the first Test at Pune.
