Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils met each other in a crucial encounter at the RGICS, in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad captain David Warner won the toss and after looking at the pitch, decided to bat first. They had brought in Kane Williamson and Mohammad Siraj made his IPL debut. For Delhi Daredevils, Jayant Yadav got his first game of IPL 10.
David Warner lost his wicket early, but then Kane Williamson and Shikhar Dhawan stitched a 136 runs to save SRH from embarrassment. The highlight of the innings was the brilliant hitting by Williamson. He was looking good for a century, but got out for 89 and Shikhar Dhawan scratched his way to 70 runs. Henriques and Hooda propelled SRH to 191/4.
Delhi had to get a good start to chase this total against a formidable SRH bowling. But Mohammad Siraj dismissed Billings on his debut and despite a 74 runs partnership between Nair (33) and Samson (42), Delhi suffered a mini collapse, including the prized wicket of Rishabh Pant for a first ball duck. In the end, Shreyas Iyer and Angelo Mathews tried their best to take DD across the finishing line,
Delhi might have missed a trick by not sending in an in-form and dangerous Chris Morris after the Samson wicket. However, SRH got their train on the winning track again with two home wins in a row.
Man of Match: Kane Williamson (SRH)
SRH 191/4 (K Williamson 89; C Morris 4/24) defeated DD 176/5(S Iyer 50 ; M Siraj 2/39) by 15 runs
