Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar is expected to become the new face of the National Mission for Clean Ganga. The news came when the Prime Minister’s Office started to prepare for the mega campaign in order to make people aware of the urgent need to reduce pollution in the holy river.
One of the officials stated that they are thinking of appointing Sachin as the brand ambassador of the mission to help spread the message. He said, "We are in talks with Sachin Tendulkar to help us take the campaign to the people. His office has indicated that he is agreeable to the idea. We hope to launch the campaign next month itself."

However, when queries asked to the Tendulkar’s office, they went unanswered. Officials said the campaign will be unveiled across all media formats. The mission is one of the top priorities of the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is himself deeply committed to it. The PMO is now closely monitoring progress on the mission, with weekly meetings being held with the NMCG.
The campaign apart, the NMCG is set to unfold a series of events around the Ganga river to create a "visible buzz" around the mission. A Ganga Yatra is on the agenda but in a shorter format. Next month onwards, events and activities around the Ganga Dussehra, Ganga Ekadashi, and a Char Dham yatra are also being organized to generate public interest.
