Brain Lara and Sachin Tendulkar to come together again

They will play a match at Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad.

The opening of the BrianLara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad is expected to be grand one as the two legendary batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara will be seen again on the cricketing field.

On Thursday Trinidad and Tobago Sports Minister Darryl Smith has announced the same after a cabinet meeting. Both the cricketers will be seen playing against each other in the friendly fixture between Lara XI v Tendulkar XI scheduled on May 13th. The match will be broadcasted all around the globe while some local, regional and international players will feature in the match.

It is a multi-purpose stadium with high-tech facilities like an aquatic center, an Olympic-sized cycling velodrome, indoor gymnasium, school for the training of athletes, a large car park, new roads and other infrastructural works. They have also built some areas which are specially designed for the print, radio and television media, respectively.

Lara and Tendulkar are the legends of cricket, who ruled the batting charts during their time as players. Lara played 131 Tests for the West Indies between December 1990 and December 2006 and scored as much as 11,953 runs in his international Test career at an average of 52.88. He also smashed 34 Test centuries and 48 half centuries.

On the other hand, SachinTendulkar is the leading runs scorer in the Test and ODI format. He overtook Lara’s record in the Tests on October 17, 2008.

The Indian batting legend finished played 200 Tests and scored 15, 921 runs at an average of 53.78. He scored 51 centuries and 68 half centuries.

Both the cricketer played for the same team in the Cricket All-Stars series in 2015. The unofficial bilateral series between two teams – Sachin’s Blasters and Warne’s Warrior – was organized at the Time Square to promote cricket in the United States of America.
