5 Interesting Facts about KL Rahul

KL Rahul is undoubtedly one of the most talented batsmen currently in India. And so he is considered to be a big thing in Indian cricket for the coming years. After making his Test debut in 2014, Rahul scored his maiden test century in the second match itself. He even became the first Indian cricketer to hit a century in ODI on debut in 2016 against Zimbabwe. His hunger for runs, calm headed personality and his talent makes him one of the most exciting talents in Indian cricket. And so here we bring you the 5 interesting facts that you need to know about the talented youngster.



5. The story behind his name……



Kannaur Lokesh Rahul is referred as KL Rahul but could have been KL Rohan. Yes! KL Rahul was supposed to be named as Rohan. His father KN Lokesh was a big fan of Sunil Gavaskar and so even he wanted to name his son after Sunny paji’s son, Rohan Gavaskar. But KL Rahul’s father mistook the name ‘Rohan’ as ‘Rahul’.

4. Love for Tattoos




KL Rahul admits his love for tattoos. He has said in the past that he takes inspiration from Virat Kohli for matters not just related to cricket but also bfor his style statement. Just like the Test skipper even Rahul loves to get inked. Reports suggest that he has seven tattoos inked on his body and planning to get more in future. Other than tattoos he also admits that he loves to sport different hairstyles in different seasons.

3. Triple Centurion



KL Rahul was Karnataka’s first triple-centurion in a first class match. However Karnataka has produced many talented batsmen but KL Rahul was the first to hit a triple century for the state. He scored 337 runs in 448 balls against Uttar Pradesh in 2014-15 Ranji Trophy season.

2. Hundreds across all formats



Just few months ago KL Rahul hit his maiden T20I century in a very crucial situation against the West Indies. It was only his 4th T20I. Even before this in ODIs, KL Rahul became the first Indian player to score a ton on debut. Talking about the Tests, in his very second match after debut he slammed his maiden international hundred back in December 2014.

1. His Idol



KL Rahul not just shares the name with this cricketer but also admires and idolises his cricketing abilities. Yes! We are talking about legendary Rahul Dravid. They both share a very strong bond. KL Rahul is often compared to Dravid for his calm headed approach and battling style.

Asked about his idol KL Rahul once said,
“As a youngster, it is very easy to complicate things. All he (Dravid) tells me is that cricket is a very simple game and to keep it that way. Work hard on your technique and that is like oxygen."

Even Rahul Dravid was all about praises when asked about the Karnataka youngster.
"He is a talented young batsman, one among the few we have in Karnataka at the moment. He is scoring runs, which is a good thing; the key for someone like him is to keep scoring runs this season, especially in Ranji Trophy."
