With his unusual bowling action and excellent death bowling skills Jasprit Bumrah is shining like a rising sun in the Indian cricket team. His performance in the limited overs format especially T20Is is grabbing eyeballs. He is known for his unusual bowling action and Yorkers due to which the batsmen face a lot of difficulties. Last year Bumrah took the most wickets in a calendar year by any bowler in T20Is. He took 28 wickets at an excellent economy rate of 6.62. Also in the recently completed series of India versus England he continued where he left last year. In 3 T20Is played he took five wickets at an economy rate of 6.20. Ultimately what makes him the best in death overs is his ability to keep his nerve and deliver what the captain and the team requires in the most difficult times. So here are few interesting facts about the talented Jasprit Bumrah we should know. Take a look:

6. No international run in 35 matches !

Jasprit Bumrah is yet to score a run in the 35 international matches he has played so far for Team India but he already has 55 wickets in his kitty.

5. Lost his father

At the age of 7, Jasprit Bumrah lost his father Jasbir Singh. After his father’s death, it was Bumrah’s mother, professionally a principal who single-handedly raised her children.


4. Excellent performance in Ranji Trophy

A young 14 years old Jasprit started his cricket career but it was in the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy season that he came into limelight playing for Gujarat. Bumrah played exceptionally well in a match against Vidharba where he took 7 wickets. He ended the season as a leading wicket-taker for Gujarat.


3. Talent identified

The first one to identify the talent of this right-arm medium pacer from Gujarat was Mumbai Indians' coach John Wright. It was Wright who recognized the talent and extraordinary bowling of Jasprit Bumrah which helped him earn a place in the Mumbai Indians team.


2. Lessons Learnt

Bumrah is very well known for his yorkers and bouncers which often trouble the batsmen playing against him. Bumrah credits this to the Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Mainga who was also his Mumbai Indian teammate and whie playing IPL Malinga helped him understand how to make the best use of his different bowling techniques.

Last but not the least is the time when Former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni himself praised Jasprit for his excellent talent. Mahi was impressed with his bowling in the India’s tour of Aussie in 2015-16. In the past MS has always talked about the need of a special bowler in the death overs and eventually Jasprit became the death over specialist of the Indian side in the limited overs formats.
