Before the start of the four-match test series between India and Australia, former England spinner Monty Panesar had given some key tips to his domestic side teammates Steve O’Keefe and Matt Renshaw. Panesar seems more than satisfied with first Test match in Pune as his teammates had performed exceptionally well to take their team home. The Aussies have registered a massive 333-run win and got the satisfying lead in the series.
Renshaw scored a brilliant fifty in the first innings, while O’Keefe took 12 wickets in the match by conceding just 70 runs. Panesar was the part of the last team who had beaten India in their own backyard in 2012.
Panesar asserted that his tips must have helped them to adapt to Indian pitches so quickly. He said, “I feel both of them have done really well, they showed good temperament and skill to adapt on Indian pitches."
The former left-arm spinner concluded by expressing his urge of spending more time with them. He said, “I would like to get involved for more than 2 days since I feel coaching is about getting to know the players and giving your time to understand them as people. Had the consultancy been a little longer, it would have been more of a benefit and they did consider but they already had Sriram in place. I was grateful for the opportunity."
