All former Test cricketers, which includes MSK Prasad, Devang Gandhi, and Sarandeep Singh, who would be choosing the forthcoming squad for the ODIs and T20s against England. And the selection will be done in January.
According to the Lodha Committee rules, BCCI’s senior selection committee is supposed to include only Test cricketers and Gagan Khoda with two ODIs as well as Jatin Paranjpe with 4 ODIs, as they don’t conform to the rules, which is set by the Supreme Court-appointed Committee and now approved as the decision.
Amitabh Chaudhary, the joint Secretary told PTI, “I will have to check what will be the new rules. Normally, the Secretary is the convener of the senior team. In his absence, the joint secretary convenes the meeting,”
Indian cricket board officials feel that keeping in mind an excellent work of Khoda and Paranjpe until now, they could be made talent coordinators a status under selectors and also suggested in the reforms by the panel.
The talent coordinators need not be Test cricketers and Khoda and Paranjpe could fit the bill.
An essential field of the job remains same where they would be needed to track the domestic performances and do a threadbare analysis but possibly won’t be allowable to be seated in the selection committee meetings.
