After the verdict of Supreme Court applying the recommendations made by Lodha committee, BCCI is shook up, as President Anurag Thakur and Secretary Ajay Shirke have been removed from the top positions in administration. Both failed to implement the Justice R.M. Lodha’s recommendation and and now have been forced to leave the office.
Following the exit of duo, race for the next president has started. Sourav Ganguly is likely to take the highest post in the board as interim president. Former captain Sunil Gavaskar has backed him for this post.
The First step will be to appoint the administrator and the second priority in the list is to amend the constitution of the state units and fill up the vacated positions. This had to be followed by the board changing its constitution. Board sources are saying that the entire process would take more than six months at least before the elections are held.
Sourav Ganguly stands fit in the demands from Lodha committee as they want a former player to govern the body. But he is the president of CAB since the demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya in 2014 and is looking to complete three year work period. He has to serve three year cooling off clause as suggested by the Lodha committee.
