Former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen, who has been sporting dark stickers on the front and the back side of his bat, which caught the attention of everyone during the Big Bash League match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The 36-year-old batsman is currently in Australia for the Big Bash League, where he is playing for the Melbourne Stars. When Pietersen walked out on the pitch against Melbourne Renegades at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in a derby match; he intrigued one and all with dark stickers on his bat.
Later, the right-hander reveals the reason about that on the micro-blogging site twitter with a message that he wanted to spread awareness about the poaching of rhinos, with his bat as his bat has stickers with small rhinos drawn on them.
Rhinos are known to be an endangered species in this world and are killed for their horns by poachers.
The right-handed batsman was quoted as saying in the Herald Sun, “It’s a huge, huge passion and desire of mine to raise as much awareness as possible so that this stops. I’m a South African and I love animals. I’ve always been on safari and if I wasn’t a cricketer I’d be in the bush. I want my kids’ kids to be able to have the luxury of seeing rhinos in their natural environment.”
