Chasing 251 on the final day on any pitch is an uphill task, and to chase it on Indian wickets is makes it like a cherry on the cake for the defending team. However, in Ranji Semi Final, at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot, Mumbai made a mockery of the chase as not only they won but the way they batted in final innings they clearly made a statement.
For Mumbai, on debut 17 year old Prithvi Shaw laid the foundation with Praful Waghela as both the openers added 90 runs on the board before the latter was caught off Baba Aparajith, however, Prithvi Shaw kept adding runs on the boards with small contributions from other end, and on his road to help Mumbai chase 251, he became second youngest Mumbaikar to score a century on debut. He scored 120 before his brilliant innings came to an end when Mumbai were just 10 runs short of the victory.
Defending Champions Mumbai made it to the Final for the 46th time where they will face Gujarat. The final starts from 10th January.
