Younis Khan is
getting better with the passing age. 39 year old veteran did something which
was untouched in the cricket history. In ongoing test against Australia in Sydney,
he scored his first century in their backyard and thus became first to score Test centuries in 11 different countries.
Pakistan’s leading century getter didn’t have any of those in Australia. This was probably his last chance to do so and he delivered in the last match. It was his 34th century and tied with Sunil Gavasker, Mahela Jayawardene and Brian Lara in all time list led by Sachin tendulker with 51 centuries to his name.
Younis has a conversion ratio of 1.06, only behind the great Sir Don Bradman’s 2.23 in tests. He is 36 runs short of 10,000 run mark and at any time can become first from Pakistan to achieve it. 12 batsmen are having a place in that club, five of those are Asian.
Pakistan is suffering from lack of performance in Tests since they became the number 1 test side for a short period. They have lost their last 5 test matches. Misbah gave a hint of retirement and in near future one can expect the same from Younis as well. It could well turn out be a tough transitional phase for Pakistan.
