Virat Kohli who made his International debut under MS Dhoni, will now be leading MS Dhoni's Team across all formats after Captain Cool announced his resignation from the post of India skipper in limited overs formats, Board of Cricket Control in India made it official on 6th January that Virat will lead India in limited over series against England.
Speaking to BCCI, after he was named skipper across all the 3 formats, Virat Kohli said, MS Dhoni will forever be his skipper, "Dhoni will always be the person, who guided me initially and gave me opportunities. He gave me ample time and space to grow as a cricketer"
Virat further explained, "Dhoni saved me from getting dropped from the team many a times"
Speaking on walking on Dhoni's foot steps, Virat added, "Obviously, these are massive shoes to fill. You think of MS Dhoni and the first word that comes to mind is Captain! You don’t relate Dhoni in any other way. For me he is always going to be my captain,”
Virat ever since his debut in 2008 against Sri Lanka, has been part of MS Dhoni's Team and despite criticism at times, Virat was supported by Captain Cool. Virat will play his first match as a full time skipper of Team India on 15th Jan 2016.
