Dhoni to lead Indian team one last time

MS Dhoni quit captaincy of the Indian team ahead of the series against England. This news came as a surprise and his fans wanted him to captain the team one last time. But he made his decision. Though, selectors had some other idea. They announced the team for England series along with the team for warm-up matches. Dhoni has been named the captain for the first of the two warm-up matches.

Both the matches will take a place at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. Cricket Club of India (CCI) decided to make this match a special moment for MSD’s fans and asked BCCI to telecast this match live. Even they decided in the favor of free entry in the Stadium. Thus, they are expecting the heavy crowd for the warm-up fixture.

“Till now we were preparing for just another warm-up match. But now, with the match being shown live and being labeled as Dhoni’s last tie as skipper, we are expecting at least 15 to 20,000 people to flock the stadium. We will have to request for the additional police force to control the crowd. The atmosphere is going to be like an international match and we have to live up to our high standards,” a top CCI official said ahead of the match.

In the first of the two practice matches, several big names will take the field on 10 January. MSD will lead the side having the services veteran all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, pacer Ashish Nehra, opener Shikhar Dhawan, all rounder Hardik Pandya and some other youngsters in the India A squad for the first match. Ajinkya Rahane has been named the captain for the second match. His team comprised of an explosive batsman in Suresh Raina in his team, along with Rishabh Pant who has got his maiden Indian call up. Second warm-up match is schedule for 12 January at the very same venue.
