Former Australian skipper Ian Chappell requested CA (Cricket Australia) to not invite Pakistan for cricket unless they improve their game. Following the whitewash of Pakistan in the test series against Australia, Aussie great made this statement for the visitors. He said “They disappointed everyone, who expected a close contest in the test series.”
Misbah-Ul-Haq led side to lose all three matches and the series. They didn’t post any thread to Australia apart from the last day heroics of Brisbane Test. Chappell added to his comment “Pakistan have now lost 12 test matches on the trot in Australia, and somebody is got to gate them a kick up the bum. Cricket Australia have got to start saying ‘listen if things don’t improve, we will stop with the invites.’ You can’t continue to play poor cricket. You can’t bowl poorly, have conservative field placing and field sloppily and expected to play decent cricket in Australia.”
The 73-year-old also slammed Misbah’s captaincy, saying “a lot of Pakistan’s struggles were because of no inspiration from the later.”
Pakistan will play five ODIs on their remaining tour of Australia, commencing from 13th January at Brisbane. Then action will move to the Melbourne, followed by Perth, Sydney and final ODI on Australia Day at Adelaide. Azhar Ali will lead them in the ODI series.
