Australian all-rounder James Faulkner believes that his experience of playing cricket in India can bring him a test call up for upcoming Test series against India. Jimmy has played a heavy amount of cricket in India since his debut in 2012. Even, he had an IPL match prior of his first match for Australia.
26-year old said that, “I've spent a lot of time playing cricket in the subcontinent, I'd like to think my name's there or thereabouts, being spoken about. But you'd have to ask the selectors, captain and coach. I'm just taking each series as it comes. There's a lot of cricket to be played before a lot of players will start thinking about that."
In addition to young talent, Australia tried unknown all-rounder Hilton Cartwright against Pakistan in Sydney test. But he was not up to the mark of test standards. Mitchell Marsh is not in the team due to lack of performance. It makes Faulkner’s case more strong for the selection in the test squad for the subcontinent tour.
Faulkner believes that good outing in the ODIs can grant him a call for red ball cricket. He quoted “They want an all-rounder who can bat in the top six. Hopefully I can try and grab some opportunities.”
Right handed batsman is a regular member of their limited over side. He has a very good record while donning the colored clothes. He was the man of the match in the final of 2015 world cup. He has only one Baggy Green to his name came way back in 2013 during the Ashes in England.
