Pakistan’s young sensation Babar Azam breaks into an elite list of players, who were the fastest to break 1000 ODI runs. During the third One-day International between Australia and Pakistan in Perth, he achieved this feat. This was his 21st inning in one-day cricket.
During his knock in Perth ODI, he reached this landmark off his 47th run, when he took a single off James Faulkner’s first delivery of the 30th over. Before Azam, 4 other International players have achieved this feat in just 21 innings. Babar made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2015. Since then, he has played 21 One-Day International matches and scored three hundreds and six fifties at an average of 53.32 with 90.29 strike rate. The 22-year-old scored three consecutive hundreds in three matches against West Indies in the UAE and became only the 8th batsmen ever to do so and 3rd from Pakistan.
