MS Dhoni may have quit officially as captain of Team India, but he continues to perform the duties whenever needed by the team. He has been seen planning extensively with Virat Kohli during both one-day matches, and is clearly playing the most important role as far as DRS goes for the new Indian captain who trusts his judgement.
In a report published by PTI, it is said that Dhoni inspected the pitch in Team India's optional practice session which was skipped by Virat Kohli and others. Dhoni also gave a pep talk to team-mates in the absence of Kohli and head coach Anil Kumble. Dhoni was joined later by national selector Devang Gandhi.
Earlier, Bhuvneshwar Kumar hailed MS Dhoni at his interaction with the media, he said, “He (Dhoni) watches everything closely. He gives feedback how a batsman is playing. When skipper Virat is fielding it’s always easy for Dhoni to communicate his ideas on what can we do. It’s very useful when your wicketkeeper becomes proactive,”
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan is said to be fine and took part in the practice session without any signs of discomfort. However, Dhawan may be left out for Ajinkya Rahane who had a solid net session.
