Peshawar Zalmi defeated Karachi Kings in the third playoff to qualify for the finals of the PSL 2017 to be played in Lahore. However the end of the match saw a huge emotional moment when Zalmi fast bowler Wahab Riaz was seen crying.
In a post match interview, Wahab Riaz revealed that his father had passed away a month before PSL 2017 began and he got emotional after Zalmi beat Karachi to qualify for the finals to be played at home in Lahore. Riaz dedicated this important win to his late father and said “I want to dedicate this to him. When I left the hotel, I spoke to my mother and sisters, and they told me that you have to do it for your dad. He could not get this gift [while he was alive] but I think he will be a very happy man.”
Karachi Kings were restricted to 157/7 by Wahab Riaz and Chris Jordan after Peshawar Zalmi scored 181 on the back of a well made century by Kamran Akmal.
