Recent ICC ODI rankings have seen a major upset as Australian opener David Warner was finally dethroned by South Africa skipper AB de Villiers.

De Villiers had lost the crown to India’s Virat Kohli just two months back, but 362 runs in the recently concluded 3-2 series win over New Zealand has put De Villiers back on top. He also became the fastest batsmen to reach 9,000 runs in ODIs, as he reached the milestone in just 205 innings. The previous record was held by India’s Sourav Ganguly, who achieved the feat in 228 innings.

De Villiers has not being out of the Top 5 in ODI rankings since September of 2009 and has reached the no.1 spot for an amazing 10th time. David Warner had reached the top after an incredible run of 6 centuries in 11 matches in January this year, which included a career best 179 in Adelaide Oval against Pakistan.

Warner is followed by India’s Virat Kohli, England’s Joe Root, who clinched the 4th spot after his century in West Indies.
