The Board of Control for Cricket in India has rescheduled the second semi final and the final game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy Earlier, the second semi-final between Jharkhand and Bengal was scheduled to take place today at Palam Ground but it is postponed to tomorrow and final will be held a day later to its original date, which was Sunday. Feroz Shah Kotla will host both of these matches.
BCCI announced this in a media release, which reads “The second semi-final of Paytm Vijay Hazare Trophy 2016-17 between Jharkhand and Bengal and the final have been rescheduled due to a fire accident which happened in the hotel where the teams were staying due to which the players were not in a position to play the match. The BCCI confirms that all the players and match officials are unhurt and safe. The semi-final, which was to be held on Friday, March 17, 2017, at the Airforce Complex ground, Palam in New Delhi will now be held at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Saturday, March 18.”
A miss happening took place in Jharkhand’s team hotel, where
a fire engulfed in the morning of the semi-final clash against Bengal. MS Dhoni
was among the players who were staying there with his Jharkhand team. All the members of the team are safe but unfortunately the kits have been reduced to ashes.
An official from the fire department said: “A fire call was received at 6.30 a.m., from Welcome Hotel in Dwarka Sector 10 area, following which 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot,” a fire official told IANS. The flames were doused at 7.50 a.m.
