Dav Whatmore resumes coaching again

Whatmore will be coaching Kerala's state team.

Kerala Cricket Association secretary Jayesh George confirmed that former Australian cricketer Dav Whatmore has been appointed the coach of the Kerala team.

The reports said that Whatmore, who guided Sri Lanka to glory in the 1996 edition of the World Cup, held an interaction with Kerala Cricket Association officials as well Kerala T20 players ahead of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy South Zone leg at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College ground in Chennai recently.

Jayesh George, KCA secretary told Manoramaonline.com, “Whatmore will be arriving in Chennai on March 22 and the contract will be finalised then. After the interaction in Chennai, we've had email communication with him. Former Kerala captain S. Ramesh will become the game director.”

After his success with Sri Lanka in 1996, Whatmore coached the Bangladesh, Pakistan and Zimbabwe national teams. He also guided Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League from 2009 to 2012.
