The Kiwi batting Coach Craig McMillan considers that the New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is the best No.3 batsman in the world at present.
Recently, the hosts suffered a defeat in the Wellington Test against South Africa and trailing by 1-0-1 in the three-match test series. And now they are focusing on getting things right for the third and final Test, which will start from 25 Match at Seddon Park.
The batting coach observed that skipper Williamson is mentally very strong and which aids him to absorb pressure that a usual number three batsman has to endure.
According to the reports of ESPNcricinfo, Craig McMillan stated about the Kiwi skipper Williamson, “I think he’s the best No. 3 in the world. The reality is that when you bat at No. 3 you can be an opener, new-ball bowlers are fresh in difficult conditions. Kane is very mentally strong around that, it’s a position he enjoys so I don’t see any point at all in tweaking that.”
Here are some stats of Kane Williamson, which has proved McMillan’s point of view; since 2011, Kane has played 90 out of his 109 Test innings at the number 3 batting position and has scored 4346 runs at an average of 53.65.
