MS Dhoni's future in international cricket has been discussed often after he chose to give up the captaincy of India's limited overs teams in January. While Dhoni's fitness has been top notch, his form with the bat has been mixed with the odd sparkling knock followed by a string of low scores.
Dhoni played the recent ODI & T20I series against England under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, and did fairly well with both bat and gloves. One noticeable change was that he was seen smiling lot more than usual and more expressive than when he was as captain of India. It's been a long season of Test cricket for India, so Dhoni who is retired from the longest format hasn't been seen in action as often, but the veteran has kept himself busy by playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy where he not only led Jharkhand to the final, but also was with them as mentor.
India's next limited overs assignment is the Champions Trophy in England, which many felt could be the point where Dhoni might have a rethink about his career. It seems Dhoni has already thought about it, and intends to go on playing international cricket till the 2019 World Cup, which also will be held in England.
At a recent event, Dhoni revealed his plans and seemed confident that if everything goes as per his plan, he will be part of the next World Cup too. This is wonderful news not just for his fans but also of Team India as he remains the best wicket-keeper batsman in India.
