Indian Cricket Team skipper Virat Kohli missed out on the practice session on Thursday, prompting fresh speculation about his fitness for the 4th and final Test at Dharamsala. Kohli, injured his shoulder while trying to stop a ball from crossing the boundary ropes in Ranchi. While his injury was said to be a minor strain, people around Kohli feel he could be carrying a more serious injury. Team India have called in Mumbai's Shreyas Iyer as backup, who recently scored a double ton against Australia for India A.
It remains to be seen whether Kohli will have a bat on Friday or will he take a call on his fitness on the morning of the Test match in Dharamsala, which will decide the fate of the series as both teams are level at 1-1. Kohli's form hasn't been too good in the series as he has scored only 46 runs in the 5 innings, but his presence will provide a lot of comfort to the team in the most important Test.
However, there is some more disappointment for Team India, as it is learnt that Mohammed Shami will not be able to make his comeback in the Dharamsala Test as he hasn't recovered sufficiently for the team to take a risk with only four bowlers likely to be picked in the Playing XI.
According to a source of PTI, "Shami was with the team in Ranchi also as Farhart is monitoring his progress. He was not named in the squad of 15 for the final Test. Sending him to play Vijay Hazare final was a part of that extensive rehabilitation plan."
