Australian skipper Steven Smith believes Ajinkya Rahane will do fine a job if gets a chance to lead his side in Dharamsala Test. His comments were targeting his counterpart Kohli, who can miss the next game due to an injury, as he calls “calmer, chilled out and doesn’t get too emotional.”
Indian captain Virat Kohli can miss the final Test at Dharamshala after sustaining an injury in his right shoulder during first day’s play at Ranchi. He tried to stop a boundary near the ropes at deep mid wicket but fell awkwardly on his shoulder and left the field in pain. He came only to bat during India’s first innings and scored six runs before edging a ball to Smith at second slip.
He didn’t come into the nets on Thursday and Friday for the practice sessions ahead of the all-important encounter. However, he did a light warm up. Team management called Shreyas Iyer as a backup option for Kohli, which indicates clouds over his selection.
This series is nicely poised after first three Test matches, both teams are sharing an equal honour with 1-1. Australia started this series on a high note after winning Pune Test in just two and a half days by 333 runs. India fought back hard in Bengaluru as they came from behind to register a 75-run victory after conceding a lead of 87 runs. Ranchi Test ended as a draw after five hard-fought days in business. Thus, Dharamsala Test is setup nicely for a gripping final contest.
