Cricket in England will be on high in this summer as they will host the Champions Trophy and Women’s World Cup from this June. Apart from it, their domestic tournaments will take place earlier than usual and Test specialists like Alastair Cook and James Anderson will be in action from County Cricket.
In the opening round of Championship, Cook and Anderson will be against each other, where newcomer Haseeb Hameed will join Cook in his team. England players, who are not playing the Indian Premier League will be available for at least one Championship match in the first three rounds.
Meanwhile, new Test captain Joe Root, Johnny Bairstow, Jake Ball and Moeen Ali will miss their opening matches following heavy workload throughout this winter.
England has prepared a different plan for this Champions Trophy as they brought Royal London One-Day Cup forward. Every contracted player will be available for first three rounds of this tournament as well.
Apart from it, ECB has already made a call on those players who have IPL contracts includes Sam Billings, Jos Butler, Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, Chris Jordan, Ben Stokes, Tymal Mills, and Chris Woakes. They all will miss the start of the Championship, but during One-Day International series, players will come back according to ECB’s instructions.
