After leading Australia by 2 runs , India managed to get Australia all out for 137 in the second innings thereby setting a target of 106 to win the fourth and the final Test at Dharmasala and thereby the series.
The deficit is down to 87, the number which has been a historic one in Australian cricket. Earlier India started the day on 248 for 6 with Wriddhiman Saha and Ravindra Jadeja adding 96 for the seventh wicket thereby helping India to finish on 332. In that situation 32 proved to be a important lead for team India.
The Australian second innings which started post lunch ended soon after tea as the Indian bowlers limited them to just 137. Umesh Yadav , Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 wickets each as Glenn Maxwell top scored with 45 from 60 balls.
Steve Smith failed for the first time in his final innings of the series. He has ended the series scoring 499 runs in the series. More importantly inspite of being the highest scorer in the series he will very expectedly endup on the losing side as India looks favorites to win the match from here on.
Its most likely that India will score the needful runs by tomorrow and will win the series 2-1. It was a hard fought series and one would have to say that it will possibly meet an expected end.
Australia 300 & 137 (Glenn Maxwell 45; Ravindra Jadeja 3-24, Umesh Yadav 3-29, R Ashwin 3-29) lead India 332 (Ravindra Jadeja 63, KL Rahul 60; Nathan Lyon 5-92) & 19/0 by 87 runs.
