Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin praised his teammates Ravindra Jadeja and Wriddhiman Saha after the conclusion of day three of Dharamshala Test. India rode on Jadeja and Saha’s good batting show to gain the lead after their first innings.
Indian resumed their batting at 248/6 as Jadeja and Saha were on the crease. Both batsmen shared a crucial 69 runs for the seventh wicket to earn 32-run lead after visitor’s great fightback with the ball. “It was magical. You couldn't have asked for more. Jaddu and Saha batted really well. We get our noses ahead,” Ashwin said.
“This morning was really special. Saha and Jaddu were fantastic. It has been a magical season. I told Jaddu there was a hundred for the taking. He is a very talented batsman, if he puts his head down, he can get that hundred. Hope there is tighter batting from Vijay and Rahul, and that they can get the fifties for themselves," he added.
Ashwin further praised fast bowlers Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who bowled a top spell with the new ball in the second innings of Australia. “Great spells by Umesh and Bhuvi. Australia batted really well yesterday too, we had to buckle down,” he concluded.
India had the best outing with the ball as they reduced visitors to a mere total of 137 as Umesh, Jadeja and Ashwin took three wickets each. Australian captain Steve Smith threw his wicket cheaply as he got played on off Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
At the end, India had to chase down 106, which they managed after losing two wickets of Vijay and Pujara. Rahane and KL Rahul scored runs at a brisk rate to track the mountain. In this process, Rahul notched up his sixth fifty of this series.
