Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir heaped praise on his teammate Kuldeep Yadav after his impressive debut in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia at Dharamsala.
Gambhir hails the 22-year-old for his consistency and hopes that he can continue representing India in the coming years. With the help of Kuldeep and Umesh Yadav’s brilliant effort with the ball, India won the final Test as well the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Dharamshala on Tuesday.
There were many expectations with his inclusion in the team in place of injured Virat Kohli and Kuldeep Yadav also played his responsibility very well by dismissing the likes of Glenn Maxwell, David Warner and Peter Handscomb and helping India restrict Australia to a score of 300 in the first innings.
After earning the confidence from his heroics in the Dharamsala Test and the opportunity to play under the guidance of the great Anil Kumble will definitely boost his confidence to perform extremely well in the IPL as well that experience will make him ease into the upcoming season of the IPL, where Kuldeep will represent Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders.
The 35-year-old opener told ESPNcricinfo about the left-arm wrist spinner, “That kind of consistency for a wrist spinner is a massive quality to have. I am not surprised with what he did in the first innings at Dharamsala because he's got a great temperament.”
The Delhi-lad further added, “He started his Test career on a very good note and hopefully he can continue to the same way because people can talk too much about him. At times if you start talking too much about a young boy, you can stop enjoying the game.”
