India has won the much-awaited Test series of their home season against Australia after suffering a humiliating defeat in the series opener at Pune. This series was very gripping and experts marked this series as the best since Ashes 2005.
With this win, India also retained their top spot in the ICC Test team ranking along with they will remain there on 1st April. Thus, ICC handed the cheque of 1 million US$ for winning the Test championship. After it, BCCI has decided to give a reward to each and every member of the team. Players will receive RS 50 lakhs, Coach Anil Kumble will get 25 lakhs and other support staff member to receive 15 lakh each.
India registered an 8-wicket win over Australia in Dharamshala Test, which turned the final series result in India’s favour. Earlier in this series, Australia came with the tag of ‘Under Dogs’, but against the odds, they came hard at India and won Pune Test by 333 runs and took 1-0 lead. In Bengaluru, India came from behind to register a memorable victory by 75 runs. Ranchi Test was drawn on day 5.
Before winning this series by 2-1, India did a whitewash of New Zealand by 3-0, clean swept England with 4-0 in their favour. Bangladesh was nowhere in the one-off Test match and gave series to India by 1-0. In 13-Test match long home season, India came as victorious in 10 matches apart from losing one. Two Tests at Rajkot and Ranchi were drawn.
