Recently it was revealed that Royal Challengers Bangalore would miss the services of Captain Virat Kohli for the initial part of the upcoming IPL due to his injured shoulder. However, it seems like they might miss another crucial player for the rest of the IPL.
KL Rahul is likely to miss the whole IPL 10 due to his own shoulder problem. Rahul had dislocated his left shoulder during the Pune Test, but continued to play a vital role in India winning the Border Gavaskar Trophy, despite limitations to his shot selection.
Reports say that Rahul will travel to England next week in order to have surgery on his shoulder. Rahul had score 397 runs in 12 innings for RCB last season and was one of the most prolific hitters for RCB after Kohli and AB de Villiers. With Kohli missing out due to his injury, RCB would have liked Rahul to replace him at the top with Chris Gayle. But now it would be upto Mandeep Singh and Sarfraz Khan to shoulder that responsibility in Rahul’s absence.
Rahul had also replaced Kedar Jadhav as RCB wicketkeeper in last season, but now Coach Daniel Vettori will have to look somewhere else for wicket keeping duties. Fans and the board will now hope that Rahul should recover in time for the ICC Champions trophy or the following tour of Sri Lanka- which features 3 Tests, 5 ODIs and one T20I in July-August.
