IndiaU-19 team’s poor run of form continued and came to an end in the on-going Asian Cricket Council Youth U19 Asia Cup 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; as India U19 were knocked out of the tournament after consecutive defeats to Nepal U19 and Bangladesh U19.
Nepal U19 had created a sensation, beating the strong India U19 contingent, who had defeated Malaysia U19 by 202 runs, by 19 runs.
Now Bangladesh U19 team dumped the Indian U19 team out of the tournament by beating by 8 wickets via DL method. In the crucial Group A match, India U19 batted first and scored 187/8 in the allotted 32 over, after rain interfered with the proceedings.
Salman Khan top scored with 39, while wicket keeper Anuj Rawat contributed 34 runs. Robiul Hoque took 3/43 in his six overs, while Nayeem Hasan and Afif Hossain picked 2 wickets each.
Bangladesh U19 needed 190 runs to win in 32 overs and their opener Pinak Ghosh scored 81* to steer the chase successfully. He and fellow opener Mohd Naim (38) added 82 runs for the first wicket and the match slipped out of the grasp of the India U19 team.
Towhid Hridoy calmed some jittery nerves with a 32 ball 48* with 4 sixes to take Bangladesh U19 to a very important win. Bangladesh U19 won the match by 8 wickets via D/L method.
Mandeep Singh (1) was the only bowler to pick up the wickets for India U19.
With 2 losses in 3 matches from Group A and 2 points to their name, India U19 were eliminated from the tournament, while Bangladesh U19 topped the group with 3 wins in 3 matches.
