India’s chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has certainly proved his mettle in the ongoing limited-overs series against Australia. After scalping 7 wickets in 4 games in the recently concluded five-match ODI series, Kuldeep has impressed one and all with his spectacular showing in the first Twenty-20 international at Ranchi, which the Men in Blue won by 9 wickets.
Considering Kuldeep’s recent exploits, out of favour India batsman Suresh Raina has asserted that former chief coach Anil Kumble deserves credit for shaping up the 22-year-old spinner.
"Kuldeep (Yadav) is doing very well and the credit goes to Anil Bhai (Anil Kumble). He worked really hard with him," Raina was quoted by PTI as saying at an event in Mumbai.
"I was talking to him (Kuldeep) in the IPL and he always use to message Anil Bhai. He is the product of Anil Kumble.
"He (Kuldeep) has done well with (former Australian chinaman) Brad Hogg. He is the guy who will change everything in bowling department," he further added.
Just a couple days ago, the left-arm spinner mentioned the contribution of two legendary Aussie spinners (Shane Warne and Brad Hogg), who have had a great impact on his career so far.
“His (Warne’s) wrist work, flight and drift, and the way he deceives any batsman is what I really look up to. I will be successful even if I get to learn something from him. I’ve followed Shane Warne since childhood. He’s my idol. If I can achieve 50 percent of what he did, my life will be a success. I talk to him whenever I can,” Kuldeep had quoted by Hindustan Times as saying.
“I have been with Hogg with Kolkata Knight Riders for two seasons. You learn a lot from a fellow chinaman. Be it his flipper or wrong’un. It’s great to gain some experience from them,” he had added.
Kuldeep, who made his international debut earlier this year during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, has scalped 18 wickets in 11 ODIs thus far, including a hat-trick against the Aussies in the recently held second one-day international match at Eden Gardens. The Kanpur born spinner has also picked 9 wickets in just 2 Tests beside claiming 5 wickets to his name in the T20I format.
