Watch: Virat Kohli records a message for Afghan cricket

Kohli lavished praise on the passion of Afghanistan for cricket

By Saurabh Malhotra -

Team India skipper Virat Kohli is one of the most popular cricketers in the world, he sets the standard as far as modern day batting goes especially in limited overs cricket where he is accepted as the best by a mile. Kohli is already 2nd on the list of batsmen with most centuries in ODIs and at age of 28 he is expected to go past the great Sachin Tendulkar before he is done with cricket.

Kohli is known for his aggression on the field but those who know him personally, will confess that he is one of the most humble and soft persons off the field and generally mixes up well with his opponents. His friendship with Pakistani cricketers Shahid Afridi and Mohammed Amir makes him a favourite for many across the border.

On Thursday, Afghanistan Cricket Board shared a video of Virat Kohli where he lavished a lot of praise on Afghan cricket and congratulated them for getting Test status so soon. Afghanistan is yet to play it's maiden Test but with players like Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan, they have risen up in international cricket much faster than many expected them to.

Kohli offered some advice to young fans in Afghanistan and talked about his observations of the passion that the national team plays with whenever they step on the field. With Afghanistan having a second home in Greater Noida, one won't be surprised if some day we may see India play an 'away' Test in India against the Afghanis.
