For the first time in nearly nine years, Pakistan cricket fans have a season of cricket to look forward to after Pakistan Cricket Board and International Cricket Council have agreed to a three-match T20I series against World XI to be played in September at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Turning back the clock, international cricket in Pakistan had come to a standstill after anti-socials attacked a bus carrying Sri Lanka cricketers to the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore in March 2009. In 2015, Zimbabwe braved a tour to Pakistan for a short limited-overs series but was left scarred by a bomb blast merely 800 meters from the Gaddafi Stadium during the second ODI. Thus, the revival of the sport will provide a major boost to the nation and may also help shape the conscience of the cricketers, which plays a major role in cordoning off security-related issues on international tours. Coached by former England coach Andy Flower, the World XI side will be led by South-African batsman Faf du Plessis. The squad comprises a star-studded lineup of 14 players from seven different countries. The three-match T20 series will be played on September 12, 13 and 15 at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Best economical pick – Pakistan’s new bowling sensation Hassan Ali, now popularly known as The Wicket Taker. He is a Right-arm medium-fast bowler who is always ready to take wickets for his team. He has played 7 T20i matches in which he has taken 10 wickets at an average of 19.70. His success in Champions Trophy will be his plus point.
Top captains & vice captains – The hero of Champions trophy final Fakhar Zaman has been prominent in odi but in T20i has played 3 matches and has scored just 26 runs at an average of 13.00. But he has been performing well in domestic T20 matches. Fakhar’s destructive batting style will be a danger for the World XI team.Babar Azam has played 8 T20i matches and has scored 253 runs at an astonishing average of 50.60. He has the best score of 55. He bats at no.3. He along with Shoaib Malik will be a caution for the opponent side.
Smart pick – The bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan is set to play in front of his home crowd for the first time. He recorded the most economical figures for a bowler completing their four overs on debut in a T20I. He has played 4 matches and has taken 10 wickets at an average of just 7.50.
Cautious Pick – Usman Khan Shinwari who is a right-arm medium-fast bowler, he has represented Pakistan in 2 T20i matches has not taken a wicket yet. Usman might not get a place in Playing XI, so don’t pick him in your squad.
My XI – Fakhar Zaman (Captain), Babar Azam (Vice-Captain), Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Tamim Iqbal,Rumman Raees, Ben Cutting, Sarfraz Ahmed, Faf du Plessis, David Miller, Darren Sammy
