India beat West Indies by 5 wickets in a low scoring game at Eden Gardens, Kolkata and took a lead of 1-0 in the three-match T20I series.

Rohit Sharma asked the visitors to bat first and Indian pacers gave a perfect start as they removed three Windies batsmen inside the powerplay and after that West Indies never recovered and could manage only 109/8 in their 20 overs.

In reply, India also had a poor start and lost 4 wickets for just 45 runs in the 8th over but Dinesh Karthik was rock solid at one end and with the help of Manish Pandey and Krunall Pandya took the team to get over the line. Kuldeep Yadav was named Man of the Match for his 3 wickets haul.

9 - This was Rohit Sharma's 9th T20I win as captain - most wins by any captain in the first ten T20I matches.
